Tips for Making Dalgona in Your Thermomix®

Tips for Making Dalgona in Your Thermomix®

Dalgona coffee has been widely popular these days. It’s easy and quick to make and you only need 3 ingredients to whip up a cold coffee in a hot day.

And since this fluffy, creamy coffee has taken the internet and the whole world by storm, there are still a lot of questions circulating in forums and Facebook pages on how to make the perfect Dalgona with the Thermomix®.

That’s why I’ve gathered some frequently asked questions from forums and answered them to help you create your own version of Dalgona coffee.

  • Can I use espresso coffee?
      • No, freeze-dried instant coffee is the only coffee that will work to make Dalgona.
  • Can I leave out the sugar?
      • Technically, the sugar can’t be left out. If you reduce the sugar your Dalgona will be very bitter.
  • Can I make this vegan?
      • Yes, you can use plant-based milk of your choice.
  • Can’t I just heat the water in the Thermomix®? Boiling the kettle gave us the most consistent and quickest results.

  • Can I halve the recipe?
      • Yes, you can reduce the recipe to half. Any less than this will not whip as well.
  • Is there a specific brand of instant coffee you recommend?
      • I used Moccona coffee but any instant freeze-dried coffee can be used.
  • Can I make decaf Dalgona?
      • Yes. Remember you need to use a freeze-dried instant decaf coffee.
  • Can leftover Dalgona be saved for later?
      • Yes. Leftover topping can be refrigerated in an airtight container overnight.
  • What can I use Dalgona with?
      • You can use Dalgona with hot or cold dairy or dairy-free milk, a topping for ice cream, or even to top an Espresso Martini.

The good news is that you can make Dalgona from either a caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee just remember that you need to use instant freeze-dried coffee.
