Save Time When Cleaning Your ThermomixⓇ Bowl

A lot of mums that I have talked tell me that they love to cook nutritious and delicious food for their family.

However, when I ask them about cleaning up their kitchen, they tell me in an instant that they find cleaning their Thermomix® can be frustrating.

Well, I know how you feel. And I wouldn’t want you to feel that way again ever. So, we’ve discovered sure fire ways on how to keep your ThermomixⓇ spick and span.

Thermies are actually simple to clean up. We just need toadd a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid to a half filled bowl of water and pulse on Turbo a few times until the bowl is clean. Just rinse ad your Thermie is all set.

  1. Removing yellow stains from the Thermomix® lid

As soon as you cook a curry or tomato dish, you will notice that your Thermomix lid will have a yellow stain. If you get any yellow stains on your lid, basket, Varoma® or spatula, pop them in the sun for a couple of hours. The UV rays will remove the staining.

  1. Getting thick batters out from the TM Bowl and off the blades
Ever cooked a thick sauce or batter and been unable to get all the goodness from the bowl or blades? The easiest way to remove excess food from the blades is to remove as much food as you can from the TM Bowl with a long bladed spatula such as the TM Essentials Silicone Spatula.
Then give the blades a spin for a few seconds at Speed 6. This will spin the batter or sauce to the sides of the TM Bowl where you can remove the dough with the spatula.
  1. Remove bread dough from the TM Bowl

The easiest way to remove bread dough from the TM Bowl is to tip the bowl upside down on a TM Essentials Silicone Baking Mat. Twist the blades back and forth and the dough will fall off the blades and out of the Bowl.

  1. Cleaning the TM Bowl after melting chocolate

After removing as much chocolate as you can, add a glass of milk and a teaspoon of cocoa powder to the TM Bowl. Mix for 5 min/80°C/Speed 3. Enjoy!

  1. Cleaning the TM Bowl with a Vinegar Wash

The main reason a hollandaise, mayonnaise or other egg-based sauce splits when making is that there are traces of oil in the TM Bowl. This is also the case when egg whites fail to whip. To remove any traces of oil in your TM Bowl, do a vinegar wash for a sparkling clean bowl.

Vinegar Wash

Add 1 litre of water to the TM Bowl (with the butterfly in place if you will be using it in your recipe), 30g white vinegar and mix for 10 min/Varoma/Speed 4. Rinse and dry with a clean tea towel.

  1. Remove odours from the Bowl and Lid

Add 2 tsp bi-carbonate of soda, 1 litre of water and 60g lemon juice to the TM Bowl. Heat for 15 minutes/Varoma temp/Speed 3.

  1. Cleaning the TM Bowl
  • Use the TM Essentials Bowl Brush to quickly and easily remove most food from your TM Bowl and have it ready to use again in no time.
  • Your TM Bowl is dishwasher safe if you have the time to wait for the cycle.
  • A euroSCRUBBY will quickly and safely remove burnt on food from the base of your bowl.
  • An egg shell and lemon wash will give your TM Bowl a sparkly finish. Simply add 3 or 4 egg shells (or whatever you have on hand) and half a lemon to the Bowl. Chop 10 sec/Speed 8. Scrape down TM Bowl. Add 500g water and cook 30 mins/50°C/Speed 1. Rinse well when finished.
  1.  Cleaning the TM Blades

The TM Blades are dishwasher safe. To clean the small gap under the blades we recommend using the TM Essentials Blade Brushes. Made from stainless steel twisted wire with sturdy nylon bristles, they will easily remove dough, chocolate and other food residue.

  1. Drying your bowl

You can dry your bowl automatically by placing a tea towel in the TM bowl and mixing for 15 sec/Reverse Speed 2.

  1. Cleaning the Thermomix® body and feet
Use a damp cloth with a little detergent to clean the outside and feet of your Thermomix®. Don’t use scourers or a euroSCRUBBY on the body of the machine. If you have a TM31 avoid rubbing the numbers as they can be accidentally removed.
I like to clean my Thermomix® feet regularly with a damp cloth to help ensure the scales are weighing accurately.
