Steaming Corned Beef in the Varoma® Appliance and V Stacker

Steaming Corned Beef in the V Stacker

Corned Beef is one of those favourite family favourites that brings up nostalgic memories of childhood family dinners. And not only is Corned Beef a budget friendly dinner, nothing beats cold Corned Beef on sandwiches or with a salad for a quick and easy dinner.

Plus cooking Corned Beef by steam results in a more flavoursome meal rather than boiling meat. It just makes sense when you think about it. And by steaming your Corned Beef, you can be guaranteed it will be moist and tender. It’s a win-win on all fronts.

When you want to steam Corned Beef but it’s too large to fit in your Simmering Basket or Varoma® Appliance, use one of ourV Stackers to easily fit and cook up to 3kgs of corned beef. Towards the end of steaming your corned beef, add some vegies for dinner and finish off with a White Sauce with your Thermomix® Appliance.

The directions below are perfect for a 3kg piece of corned beef. If your corned beef is smaller than this, modify your steaming times to allow  for 30 minutes steaming time per 500g.

Directions:

  • Add one litre of water to the Mixing Bowl.
  • Place the Varoma® Appliance and middle tray in position. Line the middle tray with aSteaming Sheet or piece of baking paper cut to size.
  • Place aV Stacker on the Varoma® Appliance.
  • Rinse the uncooked Corned Beef thoroughly under cold water to remove excess brine.
  • Place the Corned Beef on theSteaming Sheet in the Varoma® Appliance then put the lid on.
  • The Corned Beef will need to steam for a total of 3 hours.
  • Start by steaming for 90 min/100°C/Speed 2.
  • Add a further litre of water to the Mixing Bowl. Steam for a further90 min/100°C/Speed 2. You can steam vegetables in theVaroma® Appliance for thelast 15-30 minutes depending on the vegies. Use our freeSteaming Guide to determine how long to steam your vegies.
  • Set aside the Corned Beef and  make White Sauce if desired.
  • Serve sliced with steamed vegies, white sauce, or a salad.

Corned Beef will keep for 3 to 4 days once cooked or can be frozen for 2 to 3 months.
