Steamed Salmon with Black Bean and Ginger Sauce

This Steamed Salmon with Black Bean and Ginger recipe is a perfect option for a healthy and tasty meal. The salmon is delicately steamed to perfection in the Varoma® Appliance, and the black bean and ginger sauce adds a punch of bold flavour to every bite. With the help of your Thermomix® Appliance, you’ll have this delicious meal ready in no time. Serve it over a bed of rice and steamed veggies for a complete and satisfying meal that is both nutritious and delicious.


Ingredients

  • 2 x 150-200g salmon fillets
  • Finley sliced red chilli for garnish
  • Finely sliced spring onions for garnish

Black Bean and Ginger Sauce

  • 15g dried salted black beans
  • 100g boiling water
  • 20g vegetable oil
  • 10g ginger, peeled
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 large red chilli
  • 10g kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 15g palm sugar
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. Weigh the black beans into a small bowl  and cover with boiling water. Set aside to soak for 10 minutes. 
  2. Drain the black beans and set aside. 
  3. Place vegetable oil, ginger, garlic, and chilli in Mixing Bowl. Chop for 4 sec/Speed 10. 
  4. Scrape down the sides and cook for 2 min/110°C/Speed 2.
  5. Add the reserved black beans, kecap manis, palm sugar, and pepper. Cook for 3 min/80°C/Speed 2.
  6. Position the TM Essentials Silicone Steaming Mat on the flat middle tray of the Varoma® Appliance.
  7. Place the salmon fillets in the base of the Silicone Steaming Mat. 
  8. Divide the black bean and ginger sauce between the salmon portions.
  9. Without cleaning the Mixing Bowl, add 500g water. 
  10. Position the Varoma® Appliance and lid in place on top of the Mixing Bowl. Steam for 20 min/120°C/Speed 2.
  11. Transfer to serving plates and garnish with chilli and spring onion.
  12. Serve with steamed rice and veggies.
