Steamed Pork Porcupine Balls

Steamed Pork Porcupine Balls

These tender, juicy pork porcupine meatballs made easily with your Thermomix® Appliance are coated in a layer of steamed rice and are sure to be a hit with the whole family. They are also easy to make gluten-free, so everyone can enjoy them. Perfect to serve with veggies or a stir fry for dinner or as a snack with dipping sauce. 


Ingredients

  • 200g rice
  • 4 spring onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic 
  • 3cm ginger
  • 500g pork mince
  • 50g white or red miso paste
  • 1 Tbsp salt 

Directions :

  1. Weigh the rice into a small bowl. Cover rice with water and set aside for 30 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Place spring onions, garlic cloves, and ginger in the Mixing Bowl. Chop for 8 sec/Speed 8. Scrape down the sides.
  3. Add pork, miso paste and salt. Mix for 10 sec/Reverse Speed 4. Set aside in a bowl.
  4. Rinse the Mixing Bowl and  add 500g water to the Mixing Bowl..
  5. Line the middle tray of your Varoma® Appliance with a Silicone Steaming Mat orSteaming sheet.
  6. Using a teaspoon, roll the pork mixture into small balls around 3cm in diameter. Roll each ball in the soaked rice. Place porcupine balls on the lined middle tray of the Varoma® Appliance.
  7. Position Varoma® Appliance with lid in place and steam for 30 min/120°C/Speed 2.

*Makes approximately 25 balls.
