Goan Fish Curry

This quick and easy mild curry recipe with your Thermomix® Appliance works well with any type of fresh fish. This fish curry comes to you by way of Goa, a little pocket of Indian paradise that’s all about the sun, surf, sand and excellent seafood!

With a deeply aromatic tomato and coconut based sauce, Goan Fish Curry calls for a good handful of spices but once you start cooking, it’s done in under 40 minutes.

Serve with steamed rice, pappadoms and mango chutney for an easy mid week dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tomato, quartered
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 2 green chillis
  • 5 cm piece of ginger
  • 50 g peanut oil
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp tamarind puree
  • 400g tin coconut cream
  • 200g water
  • 1 kg fresh fish, cubed

Directions

  1. Chop the spices, tomato, quartered onion, garlic, chillis and ginger for 10 sec/Speed 5.
  2. Scrape down the sides and add the oil and sliced onion. Cook for 20 min/120°C/ Reverse Speed Soft. Angle the MC to allow steam to escape.
  3. Add the tamarind puree, coconut cream and water and heat for 10 min/120°C/Reverse Speed Soft.
  4. Add the cubed fish and cook for 5 min/120°C/Reverse Speed Soft until the fish is just cooked through.
  5. Serve with rice and condiments.

Serves 4-6.
