I used unsalted for this one. But you can use either salted or unsalted butter, whichever you prefer.

Do you use salted or unsalted butter? I assume it would be unsalted, but the recipe does not specify. Thanks!!
What do you do with the solids that are left? Can you use it in any way?

The solids are burnt pieces of milk solids – there is not much and it’s thrown away.
