Making your own ghee couldn't be easier with the Thermomix® Appliance. While ghee is the preferred fat for Indian cooking, it is perfect for adding to mashed potato and using for general frying. It has a high burn point making it a great stable oil for frying. Making your own ghee is less than 1/3 price than ghee from the supermarket.

Hi Eileen,
I used unsalted for this one. But you can use either salted or unsalted butter, whichever you prefer.
Cheers, Debbie
Do you use salted or unsalted butter? I assume it would be unsalted, but the recipe does not specify. Thanks!!
What do you do with the solids that are left? Can you use it in any way?

Hi Renae,
The solids are burnt pieces of milk solids – there is not much and it’s thrown away.
Cheers, Debbie
