Fresh Ginger Steamed Pudding

It’s time to make a delicious, steamed pudding with your Thermomix® Appliance. Get your Varoma® Appliance out and your favourite pudding steamer to make this healthy and delicious ginger steamed pudding. 

Using our V Stacker will increase the capacity of your Varoma® Appliance making it large enough to hold your pudding steamer. 

Ingredients:

  • 180g white flour
  • 45g wholemeal flour
  • 1 tsp bi-carbonate soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • 35g fresh ginger, peeled
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 225g milk
  • 40g sugar
  • 80g honey
  • 50g crystallised or naked ginger
  • 80g raisins
  • 25g butter
  • 1 Tbsp all spice or mixed spice

Method:

  1. Add flours, bi-carbonate soda, baking powder and ground cardamom to the Mixing Bowl. Mix for 10 sec/Speed 7. Set aside in a large bowl.
  2. Chop ginger for 6 sec/Speed 6. Scrape the sides of the bowl with a TM Essentials Silicone Spatula and repeat another 2 times.
  3. Add butter, milk, sugar and honey and melt for 3 min/50°C/Speed 1.
  4. Chop crystallised or naked dried ginger pieces into small pieces and add to Mixing Bowl with raisins. Mix for 10 sec/Reverse Speed 3.
  5. Pour mixture into the reserved flour mix and fold together until just combined.  Pour batter into 2 TM Essentials Silicone Muffin Moldsor alternatively, you can also use a 1.4 litre pudding steamer with one of our V Stackers.
  6. Place Muffin Molds or V Stacker with pudding steamer in the Varoma® Appliance. Place Varoma® Appliance lid in position. Add 500g of water to Mixing Bowl. Steam for 60 min/120°C/Speed 3. When cycle finishes replenish water and steam for a further 60 minutes.
  7. Sever hot with ice-cream, custard, cream or syrup.
