Chicken Satay Skewers

Chicken Satay Skewers

Chicken satay is a delicious and easy-to-make dish with your Thermomix® Appliance that is sure to please everyone at your next gathering. The chicken is marinated in a delicious mixture of soy sauce, lime juice, and ginger, then steamed to perfection. Can be served with a creamy peanut dipping sauce that adds the perfect amount of richness and sweetness.


Ingredients :

  • 100g red onion
  • 1 stalk lemongrass, white part only
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 25g peanut oil
  • 180g raw unsalted peanuts 
  • 20g tamarind paste
  • 1 tsp sambal olek
  • 40g kecap manis
  • 400g tin of coconut cream
  • 1 tsp TM Essentials Chicken Stock Powder or 1 chicken stock cube
  • 100g water
  • 500g chicken tenderloins, halved lengthwise
  • Wooden skewers
  • 1 Tbsp kecap manis, extra


Directions: 

  1. Place onion, lemongrass, garlic, and peanut oil into the Mixing Bowl. Chop for 5 sec/Speed 6.
  2. Scrape down the sides. Cook for 5 min /110°C/Speed 1.
  3. Add the peanuts, tamarind paste, sambal olek, kecap manis, coconut cream, chicken stock, and water to the Mixing Bowl. Mix for 10 sec/Speed 4.
  4. Cook for 5 min/110°C/Speed 2. 
  5. While the sauce is cooking, thread chicken tenderloins onto skewers.
  6. Trim any skewers that are too long to fit into the Varoma® Appliance using sharp scissors.
  7. Place the chicken skewers in the Varoma® Appliance upper tray lined with aSteaming Sheet with holes.
  8. Use a pastry brush to coat the chicken skewers with the extra kecap manis.
  9. Set theVaroma® Appliance in place. Steam for 20 min/120°C/Speed 2. When finished cooking, removeVaroma® Appliance and plate the chicken skewers.
  10. With MC in place, blend the sauce for 30 sec/Speed 9.
  11. Pour sauce over chicken skewers to serve.
